How to fix your ZE4145 Power Connector

(and save yourself a lot of trouble and expense)

I have been having problems with the cheap power connector that HP puts in their ZE4100 series notebook.  I have an extended warranty on my computer, but I can't afford to not have my notebook right now.

I was able to find a company in New York that sells these connectors.  It doesn't look too hard to do, plus I have an electronics background (in addition to my software skills), so I decide to give it try.

I disassemble my computer, replace the connector, reassemble it and keep my fingers crossed.  It works!!!  Had it not worked, I was prepared to buy a new notebook.  Glad I didn't have to do that.  Total cost including connector, soldering iron and solder, around $30.

Lots of screws (along with a cup of coffee to see me through this ordeal)

Motherboard out and repaired

Reassembled and working, along with a few extra screws left over
